To guarantee an impeccable cleanliness of the house, a good washing of the floor is necessary. Whether parquet, tile, or linoleum, you can maintain the floor of your home without using chemicals and without breaking the bank. Indeed, natural and at hand products can do the trick. Discover how to restore the shine of your floors with this ecological cleaner.

To make the floors of your home shine, there is no need to use chemicals that are harmful to the environment and your health. You can use natural and environmentally friendly products for this.

How to prepare an ecological cleaner to recover the shine of the floor?

To clean and shine your floors in a natural and ecological way, you will need:

  • ¼ cup white vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 5 drops of lavender or tea tree essential oil

Mix the white vinegar, lemon juice and essential oil drops in a container. Stir well and pour your mixture into a bucket of lukewarm water. Dip your mop into the bucket, wring it out lightly, and clean your house.

White vinegar has antimicrobial properties that help  disinfect surfaces, degrease them and loosen dirt.  It is also useful  for removing bad odors .

Lemon is an effective whitening agent for removing stubborn stains. As for the essential oil, it perfumes your soil. If you opt for tea tree essential oil, it will, in addition to scenting your home, help you  overcome mold thanks to its antifungal action.

Note that white vinegar is a product that is suitable for cleaning all types of floor, whether tile, parquet or linoleum.

How to use white vinegar to clean all floors?

  • Linoleum floor

Linoleum is  a flexible and ecological floor covering , composed of natural products such as linseed oil, cork, or even wood flour.

Cleaning a lino floor is easy. On a daily basis, you can simply use soapy water, opting for example for Marseille soap. But for deep cleaning, it is recommended to use white vinegar.

To do this, pour 500 ml of white vinegar into a floor of hot water, soak a mop in this mixture and clean your floor.

  • The parquet floor

  • In a bucket, mix 250 ml of vinegar with 4 liters of hot water. Dip the mop in the bucket and wring it out so that it is damp, not wet.  Mop the floor, paying particular attention to the stains. After finishing cleaning the parquet, dry it well with a microfiber cloth. This trick is suitable for cleaning all types of parquet: laminate, raw or oiled.

Note that  white vinegar should not be used pure on parquet.  It must always be diluted with water so as not to damage your floor. Also, don’t let your white vinegar solution sit on the wood for long. After cleaning the parquet, dry it quickly.

Avoid cleaning the parquet with hard brushes, as  they can scratch your parquet. Use soft microfiber cloths  instead  .

    • The tiling

Tile gets dirty faster than other floor coverings, especially if its tiles are white. Pour half a glass of white vinegar into a bucket of hot water, clean your tiles with a mop and rinse well with clean water. Don’t forget to dry your tiles thoroughly after cleaning. If your tiles are very dirty, you can add black soap to your preparation. It is  a natural degreasing and stain remover that cleans floors , but also removes stubborn stains and dirt.

Black soap is also suitable for all floor coverings: marble, sandstone, terracotta or slate. Its use is easy. Just dilute a little black soap with hot water, impregnate a microfiber mop with this mixture and clean the floor.

    How to maintain the floor?

To keep your floor clean, regular maintenance is recommended to prevent dirt and dust from accumulating and forming layers that are more difficult to remove. Also,  avoid mixing chemical cleaners with natural cleaners.  This can create chemical reactions and release gases that are toxic to your health.

That said, thanks to natural products, you will be able to recover the shine of your floor, whatever its coating, and without harming your health or the environment.
