Lots and lots of apples! The easiest apple pie that melts in your mouth!

Ingredients:

For the cake:

  • 250 g butter (cold, diced)
  • 300 g wheat flour
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • pinch of salt

For the filling:

  • 1 kg of apples (preferably sour, e.g. antonówka or grey reneta)
  • 100 g sugar (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons potato flour (optional to make the filling thicker)

    Przygotowanie:

    1. Ciasto:
      1. W dużej misce wymieszaj mąkę, cukier puder i sól.
      2. Dodaj zimne masło i siekaj nożem lub palcami, aż powstanie kruszonka.
      3. Dodaj jajko i szybko zagnieć ciasto, aż będzie jednolite.
      4. Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in cling film, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
    2. Filling:
      1. Peel the apples, remove the seed nests and cut them into thin slices.
      2. In a large pot, mix the apples with the sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and, if desired, potato flour. Fry over medium heat for about 10 minutes, until the apples are slightly softened. Leave to cool.
    3. Folding and baking:
      1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C with fan).
      2. Remove the cake from the refrigerator. Divide them into two parts: one larger for the bottom and a smaller one for the top.
      3. Roll out most of the dough and line the bottom and sides of a mold with a diameter of about 23 cm, previously lined with baking paper.
      4. Pour the prepared apple filling over the cake in the mold.
      5. Roll out the remaining part of the dough and cover the filling with it, creating a grid or covering it completely.
      6. Bake in the oven for about 40-45 minutes, until the dough is golden and crispy.
    4. Application:
      1. After baking, let the apple pie cool down. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving, if you like.
